Snoring Treatment Near Me, Conway, Murrells Inlet & Myrtle Beach SC

Broken sleep can negatively impact our well-being, yet a lot of people aren’t aware of it. Snoring and sleep apnea are two examples of sleep disorders that disrupt the sleep of many people. People who snore or have sleep apnea often find it difficult to wake up, resulting in difficulty getting out of bed in the morning, difficulty concentrating, fatigue, and headaches. We can help with snoring and sleep apnea in our office, as they are both easily treated conditions.

Sleep Apnea

Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA), Central Sleep Apnea (CSA), and mixed sleep apneas are the three varieties of sleep apnea. OSA and CSA are the two most common types of sleep apnea. Mixed sleep apnea is a mix of OSA and CSA. OSA is by far the most frequently occurring condition.

Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA)

When the muscles in the throat relax during sleep, OSA occurs. The brain senses that it is not receiving enough oxygen and signals the body to wake up and take a breath, but this period is so fleeting that it is often forgotten.

Central Sleep Apnea (CSA)

Is different from OSA because the condition is not caused by a blocked airway, but rather by a problem in communicating between the brain and heart. Normally, the brain and heart work together to monitor airflow in order to maintain the correct oxygen level. CSA occurs when the brain fails to signal the muscles responsible for breathing to breathe.

With mixed sleep apnea, interrupted breathing is caused both by an obstructed airway and by the lack of signal to breathe.
